 CITY OF SCOTT CITY’S HIRING OF NEW CITY ADMINISTRATOR.

 

The City of Scott City has hired a new City Administrator by unanimous vote.  After extensive search beginning with 20 candidates, the City Council was presented with some very talented and qualified candidates. Out of those candidates Mr. Mark O’Dell was hired and start employment in 30 days.

Mr. Mark O’Dell is married with children. Mr. O’Dell has worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri for over 20 years in the office of the City Manager.  During his career he has worked as a Manager of the Kansas City Health Department, Housing and Community Development, Capital Improvements/Management Office, Office of Management/Budget, Water Department and Fire Department.  He also has extensive involvement with finance, human resources and technical support. 

Mr. O’Dell prepared and drafted budgets out of the $1.3 billion dollar budget of the City of Kansas City.  He also managed contracts totaling more than $20 million in HUD blocks grants. Hundreds of grants for the City of Kansas City were managed, reviewed and awarded by Mr. O’Dell.

Mr. O’Dell comes to us with a Masters of Public Administration Degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Mr. O’Dell was brought up in small farming community in Central Missouri near the Missouri River. After working and living in Kansas City, Missouri he wanted his wife and children to enjoy a life of growing up in a smaller family oriented community just as he did.

Mayor Norman Brant and the Council are excited to invite Mark O’Dell and his family into the community and feel he will be a great asset to the City of Scott City.
